Khonnect - Connect Freelancer to Business
Khonnect is a web application developed as part of a university UX/UI Design Course, aimed at bridging the gap between freelancers and business owners in Cambodia. The platform enables business owners to discover and connect with skilled freelance professionals, while freelancers can showcase their portfolios, apply for jobs, and grow their network.

Process
This project was guided by Jesse James Garrett’s Five Planes of UX Design (Strategy → Scope → Structure → Skeleton → Surface), providing us with a structured, layered approach to designing a user-centered digital product.
Week 1: An Obituary
We were given a task to write an obituary of our business. This has opened up the idea of our business.

A "business obituary" is a reflective exercise where business leaders imagine their company's end, writing a fictional obituary to understand its legacy and future.
Week 2: Ideal Customer and Brand Attribute
This week, we worked on imagining our ideal customer by creating a statement on what our customers might look like as a whole, which includes their behavior, hobbies, personality, goal, motivation, and a scenario and why he/she may use our product.
We have separated our customers into 2 types:
Freelancer: particularly University's students
Business Owner: specifically SME

Moving on next, we were asked to create a brand attribute in 5 main categories, which are culture, customer, voice, feel, and impact. As a team, we all contribute by bringing out each member's idea and voting for the majority.

In each category, we are allowed to select up to 3 keywords. Noted that the word that has a heart next to it was what we have selected.
After the brand attribute creation, we created an positioning statement and our ideal customer persona.

Our positioning statement:
"Khonnect provides a comprehensive freelancing marketplace to business owners and freelancers in a liberated and dependable environment with a satisfied voice. Helping them feel trusted and experience fast-paced interaction, Khonnect empowers opportunities for growth and fosters a healthy work-life balance, ultimately enhancing the quality of employment."
Week 3: User Journey
The third week, we started to move closer to how our app functions by creating a scenario of how our ideal customer would interact with our product.
We defined our user journey as awareness, engagement, registration, buying, and advocacy.

Week 4: MVP
Within this week, we are listing our digital product's functionalities that can be described as "MVP".

Week 5: IA and IxD
In week 5, we were tasked to create interaction design and information architecture of our product.

Week 6-10: Designing our MVP and Prototyping
We started off with wireframing. In this part, as a team, we were trying multiple ways to wireframe our product. First off, we used pencil to sketch our MVP; as we want to learn more, we move on and use Miro to complete the rest. After that, we moved our wireframe to Figma.

Outcome
The Khonnect project ended with a clean and complete website design that worked well for both freelancers and business owners within the scope that our team had defined. Though we only finished 75% of our project, our team showed the final design to our teacher and classmates, and we were proud to get one of the highest scores in the class.
